Important Updates - Truly Australian Handmade 🦘

Wednesday 4th October 2023

Dear Madeit Makers and Artists,

Firstly, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for being an integral part of the Madeit migration, this is a huge journey and we have so much futher to go! The new website is providing an incredible launching pad for the next stages, and it's time for us to usher in a new chapter.

After much consideration, mapping and planning we have decided to make some key changes so that we can embrace our Australian roots in a deeper manner. These changes have been introduced and will need to be adhered to by all Sellers on the platform by 1st November 2023.

Here’s what it means:

  1. Truly Australian Handmade: From 1st November 2023, Madeit will shine a spotlight solely on Australian handmade products. This pivot means that craft supplies sourced internationally will no longer be able to be sold on the platform.
  2. Joining Madeit: All new Makers eager to be a part of our vibrant community will now need to apply to join the platform. This step ensures that we can make sure this quality standard is maintained. Simplifying and Supercharging our position as the Home of Australian Handmade Arts & Crafts.
  3. Setting the Standard: To ensure the best quality for our visitors and customers, we are rolling out a quality benchmark for all products that can be sold on the Madeit platform. New Makers wishing to join us will have to apply, giving us a chance to appreciate their craftsmanship firsthand.
  4. Time to Reflect and Review: For our existing artists and sellers, please take a moment to review your product offerings. By 1st November 2023, ensure that all your creations align with our updated terms and conditions and the quality benchmarks. To keep our promise of quality, we will be reviewing all accounts in line with these new standards.

We understand that change can sometimes be bittersweet. If you feel that these alterations make it challenging for your products or offerings to fit into the Madeit platform, please email support@madeit.com.au . We truly value your journey with us and will reimburse any money spent on the current platform.

Why this shift?

From buying the Madeit platform in April 2023, I have been looking at how we can evolve and grow and really refine the platform experience for the Sellers and Customers of Madeit. I have been blown away by the talent that exists in this incredible community but felt the message was mixed with internationally sourced products on the platform and no quality benchmark.

As I have dived deeper into our mission and the market landscape, I realised that our strength lies in showcasing the unique essence of Australian craftsmanship.

This decision didn't come overnight and it has come about during the migration. Alongside migrating to a new tech platform I've been working on the strategy and planning for the future of the platform including connecting with many Makers to work out the next steps forward. The international craft market is vast and varied, by honing in on our Australian roots, we can offer something truly unique and of impeccable quality.

I know that for some, this message might come with mixed feelings. It’s more change, and change can evoke a myriad emotions. But I truly believe that this is the right step in our collective journey forwards.

And in this evolution, we hope to write new success stories with you!

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and unwavering support.

Here's to creating a vibrant future for Madeit together⭐️
