What should I include in my Maker Policy?

Maker Policy

Your maker policy is how you can inform your customers about how you do business and how you will handle something that might go wrong.

The main areas to ensure you include in your maker policy are returns & exchanges and how your shipping works. Of course, there are more options you can include based on your handmade business so we've expanded to include other items to consider adding like delivery times, lost parcels and sizing or materials information.

What you include is completely up to you and your business needs. Think about some of the questions customers have asked you before buying or requested after they've made a purchase. These can help to form your own personalised maker policy.

A good maker policy is as much about you informing your customer as it is about protecting you and your business by being clear and transparent.

Shipping policy

  • Items will be shipped within 1-3 business days
  • Default shipping is standard parcel with tracking (unless arranged otherwise)

Refund & Exchange policy

I want you to be happy with your purchase but if something isn't right or you change your mind please contact me first within 7 days. If a refund or exchange is arranged the item will need to be returned in its original condition within 7 days for a full refund less shipping. Return shipping is the buyers responsibility.

Shipping & packaging policy

  • Ready to ship items will be shipped within 1-3 business days
  • Made to order or custom orders will be shipped within 10 business days (or as arranged)
  • Default shipping is Standard Parcel post with tracking (unless otherwise selected at the time of purchase)
  • Items are carefully & securely packaged and we use recycled packaging wherever possible.
  • Tracking details will be provided at the time of shipping. This allows both parties to track the parcel and ensure it gets to you. It is the buyers responsibility to provide accurate shipping details at the time of purchase.
